Erik and I like to have balance in our universe. Yin and yang, tall and short, serious and silly. This week we rocked out at two concerts, and still maintained balance in the universe.
On Thursday we went to Wolf Trap to see the Indigo Girls. A friend of a friend had won tickets on the radio and couldn't go or didn't get into their music. Erik didn't know anything about them, but I've always enjoyed their songs, so we got the tickets. Wow, when we got there we we're sure what to expect. I knew that the ladies in the band were lesbians, but I didn't realize that 98% of their fans were also lesbians. Erik was one of four men there. He is a man who feels pretty comfortable where-ever he is, but he stuck out like a sore thumb. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the music and had a nice time.
Two days later we went to see Erik's favorite band, Rush, at the Nissan Pavilion. I really enjoy participating in activities with Erik that bring him real joy. His happiness is my happiness. This is my second Rush concert and of course we listen to them at home. So, I'm starting to really enjoy their music as well. These guys can really play! I enjoy the musicianship and skill that these boys have. Plus, most of their songs are very thoughtful and interesting. (Betcha didn't know that I can really get into hard, classic rock, did ya?) I was a minority among the fans, though, being a woman. About 90% of the crowd were men over 40. We counted only a handful of 30-something chicks. Still we rocked out.
Balance in the universe, balance in the universe.
